The scent of pine: More than aromatherapy

See also

It has been a tradition since the trees were brought inside the home, the scent of pines and firs declare Christmas. Many people wait all year to bring the fresh, clean scent of pine to the family room. There is no reason why anyone should have to wait 11 months to experience the therapeutic value of pine essential oils.

The essential oil of pine kills bacteria, viruses and other germs that cause illness. This is why pine oil is a popular cleaning agent. Besides being an antiseptic, pine essential oils are used in massage therapy to ease the pain and swelling of arthritis, fibromyalgia, tendonitis and other muscle and joint pain. The oils also elevate the mood and relay the message that everything is clean and fresh.

Bringing in the scent of pine will blend well with other scents associated with Christmas, such as cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg and vanilla. Use the strong scent of pine to lift the mood of visitors who may be feeling down due to finances or feeling exhausted from holiday shopping.

Another good reason to have pine essential oils on hand is their ability to prevent colds and flu, while unstopping clogged sinuses and easing sinus pressure. Combine equal parts of pine essential oil with grape seed oil to make a massage oil for headaches or muscle soreness.

Enjoy all that essential pine oil has to offer. It has been used for centuries and is proven effective. Burn a little oil to scent the entire home and watch as moods change for the better this Christmas season.
