The Say So, Glowing House and more: Denver live music weekend picks June 8-9

If you’re looking for great live music this weekend in Denver, your problem won’t be in finding some, but in deciding which show(s) to attend. If you didn’t get tickets for the annual (and sold out) Big Head Todd & the Monsters show at Red Rocks this weekend, here are a few suggestions to help you out. You’re welcome.

FRIDAY, JUNE 8

Local alt-rockers The Epilogues are headlining a show at the Marquis Theater, 2009 Larimer in downtown Denver. Opening acts include Snake Rattle Rattle Snake, Carbon Choir and Abandin Pictures. Tickets are $12 each, available from Soda Jerk Presents. Doors at 8:00 p.m. This is an all-ages show!

Local indie-rock band The Say So is having a CD release show at the Hi-Dive, 7 S. Broadway in Denver, to celebrate their new album The Romantic. Also appearing are Take to the Oars and Eldren. Tickets are $10 each, available from the Hi-Dive. Service charge may apply. Doors at 8:00 p.m.; show starts at 9:00. Ages 18+.

Denver rock band A Mouthful of Thunder will headline at Larimer Lounge, 2721 Larimer Street in Denver. Also appearing are The Whicker and Pine, We Like Monsters and Majic Flower Evening. Tickets are $10 each, available through Larimer Lounge. Doors at 9:00 p.m.; show starts at 10:00. Ages 21+.

SATURDAY, JUNE 9

Denver neo-folk band Glowing House is having a CD release show at the Hi-Dive for their new record Days Run Out. Opening acts are Poet’s Row and You, Me and Apollo. Tickets are $10 each, available from the Hi-Dive; service charge may apply. Doors at 8:00 p.m.; show starts at 9:00. Ages 18+.

The Denver Songbirds Festival is happening Saturday night at Pickin’ on Tennyson, 4252 Tennyson St. in Denver. Featured performers include Megan Burtt, Lizzie Huffman and Jane Thatcher. $10 at the door; show starts at 7:00 p.m. This is an all-ages show.
