Didn't come up with an exceptional date plan for your hard to please sweetie?
Missed your chance to wait in line for four hours to get a taste of angel sweetened Pliny the Younger?
Never fear! The Santa Rosa JC's jazz band has a night set up just for you.
Squash the litany of, "When was the last time we went out dancing?" or, "You never take me anywhere special," in one fell swoop with a guaranteed to please and impress night out with one of the hottest groups on the local Lindy Hop circuit. (Bet you didn't even know there was a local Lindy Hop circuit.)
Tonight at the aptly named Ellington Hall, the SRJC Jazz Band, under the professional tutelage of Mr. Joe "Drums of Steel" Perea and with assistance from vocal powerhouses Stacy Rutz and Miles Mackenzie, presents a night of swing dancing, singing and big band jams.
$10 gets you in the door and includes a little swing dance lesson before the show by David and Cirkl at 7:30.
Can't dance?
Too freaked out by both of your left feet to even try?
That's fine, also. All tickets are good for wallflowers, too, at no extra charge.
The music has the power to stand alone, even if you can somehow resist the heart pumping, foot stomping draw of the band to the dance floor. They don't write many tunes like these these days so why not invest some time and energy in a group that keeps it alive through study and practice?
Remember, that's tonight only, SRJC Jazz Band at Ellington Hall in the heart of Sonoma County in Santa Rosa, Ca.
$10 for a full night of dancing and music. Don't forget the free dance lesson at 7:30 and maybe leave your other left foot at home.
