We all knew it existed thanks to the various leaks around the web, but now the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active has officially shown its face. On May 30 AT&T finally confirmed the new Samsung device is coming to the network, and to to top it off, the S5 Active is available for purchase today. The S5 Active is the latest Galaxy device from the South Korean tech giant, and it borrows the same beefy specifications as its brother, the Galaxy S5, while also adding one or two more features.

The Galaxy S5 Active is a powerful device that loves the outdoors just as much as you do, and thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, which has been clocked at 2.5GHz, 2GB's of RAM, and 16-megapixel camera, the S5 Active will be able to handle just about any task you throw at it. The Active sports the same beautiful 5.1-inch AMOLED display, A-GPS and GLONASS support so that you won't get lost while you are out on the trails, it weighs just 5.1oz, and it's running the latest version of Android (4.4 KitKat) out of the box.

Along with those features the Active still has the heart rate sensor, but you will find that the fingerprint scanner has been removed. The casing of the phone is made out of a shock resistant plastic, which is much more rugged than the regular S5, but because of this the Active will be able to handle bumps, drops, and knocks better than the regular S5. Under the screen you will find physical buttons instead of capacitive buttons, which means you will be able to snap pictures while under water. Samsung have also added what they call a 'convenience' button to the side of the device which will automatically launch your favorite sports, or activity based apps such as Runkeeper, Strava, or Maps for when you are out on the trails, or the track.

The Galaxy S5 Active is available starting today, May 30 for just $199 on a two year contract (the same price as the regular S5). The Active is available in three different colors, Camo Green, Titanium Grey, and Ruby Red. To top it off, AT&T are also running a promotion that will allow you to save $50 off of a Galaxy Gear Fit if you purchase it at the same time as the phone.
