“The Same Mind!”(1 Peter 4:1, NKJV)

"Therefore, since Christ suffered for us[a] in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin," (1 Peter 4:1, NKJV)

"Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin." (1 Peter 4:1, NIV)

Most do not like to hear about or talk about suffering. Most do not want to experience pain. Pain is an indicator that one has feelings and has the physical ability to comprehend the reason(s) for it. The Holy Bible states that God sent His only Son, Jesus and He suffered. Jesus experienced much pain physically and emotionally. He was appointed to suffer pain. He had good reason to accept and go through the difficulties.

What was the reason for the suffering? Scripture states that it was for believers. He wanted to give them victory over sickness, death, and sin so He suffered. The believer’s response to Jesus is to cease from sin though this may cause suffering. The believers in Christ Jesus mindset and attitude should be to despise and avoid sin. Sin brings death not life. The Holy Spirit brings conviction so one can repent and choose not to sin any longer.

Challenge: Believer, suffering in the body indicates that you are finished with the sinful lifestyle. Amen!
