The Sahasrara Chakra: the crown chakra

The seventh chakra is called the sahasrara chakra, also known as the crown chakra. It is located at the top of the head and it gives one the ability to spiritually connect to God. It brings balance to all of the chakras and makes them harmonious. It represents one's belief systems both conscious and unconscious and gives one divine purpose. It is pure bliss. For one with too much of the sahasrara chakra, he or she may think much of him/herself intellectually or spiritually. For someone that lacks enough of the sahasrara, crown chakra, he or she may think too little of him/herself being indecisive, insecure, apathetic, or non-spiritual.

Other characteristics of the sahasrara chakra:

  • Color: White
  • Element: Thought
  • Mantra: All of the other 6 chakra mantras
  • Petals on the lotus flower: 1000
  • God: Shiva

The way to bring balance into the sahasrara chakra is through meditation. Once one can clear the mind, spiritual enlightenment will happen. This will allow one to get to samadhi or bliss.
