Just months into the new Chicago-based talk show, Rosie O'Donnell has made plans to shift the show in another direction in hopes of gaining more viewers and higher ratings. In the midst of it all, she has cut as many as 30 employees and contract workers over the past few weeks.
Taped in the same studio where The Oprah Winfrey Show took place, Rosie premiered her first episode on October 10, 2011 with 497,000 viewers tuned in. Surprisingly enough Russell Brand made the first guest appearance on "The Rosie Show'. With ratings dropping to 194,000 viewers, Rosie has scale down the show in search of a new format and started taping one-on-one interviews in absence of an audience since coming back from break in January.
"What's going on with the show is what goes on with a lot of shows — they evolve over time to better deliver upon what viewers' and advertisers' expectations are,” a publication quoted consulting producer Scott Carlin saying.
Like with what most talk shows face, ‘The Rose Show’ struggles to reach out to a larger demographic audience. Rosie will be moving her show to a more imtimate, smaller location in the greater part of the Chicagoland area. There have been no reported statements about the show’s changes from Oprah Winfrey as of yet.
