Every day is a special day in New Orleans.
But to many the holiday season in this city is an extra magical time filled with more music, more food, and even more ambiance than usual. And it's also a time of year to be thankful for what we have.
Well, The Roots of Music would like to thank you with a free concert.
Created to fill the void in music education programs in New Orleans schools, The Roots of Music serves over 100 students and provides a way to bring children from different parts of the city together and keep kids off the streets while concurrently maintaining a nationally-recognized marching band, the Marching Crusaders.
Their mission is to "...teach, support and empower New Orleans’ youth through music education, academic support, and mentor-ship while preserving and promoting New Orleans’ unique musical and cultural heritage. The goal is to give the youth of New Orleans the resources to live positive, productive, self-reliant lives."
The concert is from 6 – 7:00 P.M.
