Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate the love with someone special, immerse oneself in a favorite fictional romance or both. Cassandra Clare’s two Internationally bestselling series, The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices know how to sweep fans off their feet and create some blushes.
Here are just some of the favorite romantic moments from Clare’s The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. If I’ve missed one of your favorite moments, please share it in a comment below. I’ve separated the moments by series so if you’ve read one but not the other you can still enjoy this Valentine treat. But do stick to the series you have read because there are SPOILERS BELOW. Moments/quotes are listed in no particular order.
I loved Clare’s The Mortal Instruments from the first chapter of the series’ first book, “City of Bones.” One thing I loved about this series is that the love story is passionate but not what binds the story together. There really is something in Clare’s brilliant writing for everyone. And despite what horrible thoughts the word “Valentine” may conjure up to these characters, they are all passionate and with the ability to love deeply. I also love the sweetness and sincere relationship of Alec and Magnus. In a world where homosexuality still has its struggles in society, their relationship is beautiful. Here are some popular romantic moments in The Mortal Instruments series.
The greenhouse scene
"I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I'll love you then.” Jace to Clary
The letter Jace left for Clary in 'City of Glass'
“But Clary, since the first time I saw you I have belonged to you completely. I still do, if you want me." Jace
That ally scene
Magnus’ and Alec’s first meeting
Many books have love triangles but the situation in Clare’s The Infernal Devices is both passionate and devastatingly heart breaking at the same time. Our heroine Tessa cannot go wrong with either choice and I’m on pins and needles for its conclusion! Below are some of the favorite romantic moments of this lovely series.
“I thought when I heard your voice it was a dream. But you are real." - Tessa to Will
‘Clockwork Prince’ chapter 9- enough said!
“No. But you make me want to write it. Does that not count for anything?”
The balcony scene
“Tessa Gray, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
Henry and Charlotte's relationship at the end of 'Clockwork Prince'
Happy Valentine’s Day!
