It’s a very slow weekend this week, and that could be in part because all of Hollywood is focused entirely on the Academy Awards which shows this weekend. No premiers, nothing going on in the theaters, because everyone in Hollywood is just focusing on the red carpet, what everyone is wearing, plus, there is a huge snowstorm hitting most of the country this weekend anyway. So, if you want to head to the theaters, there is really only a new movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. However, in limited release, there is also a disturbing-looking psychological thriller.
Movies coming out in theaters February 22, 2013 are:
Snitch - Dwayne Johnson, Susan Sarandon, Michael Kenneth Williams. The Rock comes back to the big screen as a father whose son ends up in big, big trouble and could be facing a very long prison sentence. His son is accused of distributing drugs and could be in prison, as an adult, for 10 years unless his father does something to fix things. So, his father makes a deal with the D.A. that he will turn into a snitch and help them bring down the drug dealers who got their hands on his son and got him into trouble in the first place. He ends up risking his own life and the life of his family in the hopes of saving his son. Rated PG-13.
Dark Skies - Dakota Goyo, Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton. Strange things are happening amidst a young family living quietly in the suburbs. Birds start crashing into their windows, killing themselves. Their son and the rest of the family start behaving very strangely, having strange visions and dreams. It turns out an alien presence is entering the home and preying on the children. With everyone around them believing that they are crazy, the parents decide to face off against the aliens and try to save their children. Rated PG-13.
