The Diva did it again orchestrating the perfect birthday celebration at the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale. From a spacious ocean front room with glorious Club Lounge privileges to a divine dinner at Via Luna and the most amazing massage from Pho at the tiny spa—it was all good.

Chic yet comfortably laid-back the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale and it sparkles starting with the stunning marble reception lobby to over-sized ocean-front rooms and suites and an inviting pool and deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

The Club Lounge, a signature Ritz-Carlton amenity that costs about $100 day extra depending on room category is more than worth the spurge with a fine attentive staff, free food and drinks beginning with breakfast and ending after dinner (10 p.m.) You can sit outside on a lovely balcony or inside, enjoy free WiFi (the hotel charges for this in rooms), read any of half dozen newspapers and/or socialize and relax.

Via Luna, the stunning three-meal a day restaurant does a great job with a veal chop and carpaccio. The adjacent bar is a knock-out with interesting art and décor. And the location is about as good as it gets for walking to the beach (there’s even an elevator straight down to the sea shore), shops, restaurants and bars. If you go by car there’s stiff $35 a night fee. We opted to go car-less and took advantage of being able to walk everywhere.

The hotel is also ideal for cruise passengers sailing out of nearby Port Everglades (about a $15 cab ride away), which we also took advantage of since after our three glorious days at the Ritz we set sail on Silversea Cruises Silver Spirit to celebrate another occasion, our anniversary.
