Formerly named Medical Mart, the Global Center for Health Innovation is opening its doors later this year, located in downtown Cleveland. Certainly, while the locals walk by casting an ambiguous glance at the advanced architectural model surrounded by archaic brick buildings, there is more to see under the hood. There is a rising buzz in the medical industry as the tenants occupying the floors of the new complex are released.
Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) has a proposed lease on the entire fourth floor. HIMSS is represented by over 52,000 Internet Technology executives and is considered one of the largest medical companies in America. It is from HIMSS, hospitals seek advanced technologies and approvals of current technologies.
With the establishment of the lease between the Global Center and HIMSS, there is speculation larger companies will vie for leasing spots. There are already established organizations who have joined the impressive tenants list
- Philips Healthcare
- GE Healthcare
- Cleveland Clinic
- Johnson Controls
- University Hospitals
In response to HIMSS joining the ranks, it alone projects over 100,000 visitors to the center annually. The organization also holds annual conventions which due to space previously, could not be completed in Cleveland. If the convention center is used, that would be an additional 35,000 visitors annually just for HIMSS alone.
The path of becoming a mecca in the medical industry is becoming clearer and closer for Cleveland. The rise of the Global Center for Health Innovation is becoming more than an idea on paper and hopeful potentials. It is drawing the interest of companies who will invest millions into the center, and bring in millions more to invest back into the city.
With the evolving Euclid corridor, rebuild of the Flats, the Horseshoe Casino, sport teams, concert venues and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame- Cleveland is becoming a tourist find. The city looks forward to the many visitors coming to Cleveland to invest in the city and local businesses.
