When used correctly, glitter can be a girl’s best friend. Glitter can be used to accent certain parts of your body and provide glow to your look. But when overdone or just done wrong the look can be downright ghastly and make you look like a 1970 disco ball.
Don’t be afraid to try some jewels on your upper lids. When worn with a smokey eye the look can be completely dramatic and head turning. Just don’t overdo it. When wearing a strong lipstick like a red or oxblood tone, keep the glitter to a minimum. Also don’t go overboard by wearing glitter faux eyelashes with glitter eyeliner. Remember, a little goes a long way!
As pretty as glitter lipstick is wear it sparingly. A lip gloss or stain with subtle flecks of sparkle is a great look. If your lips are nothing but globs of glitter that accumulates at the sides of your mouth, then you know you’ve gone too far. Add a hint of shimmer to your overall look with a shimmery blush that accentuates your cheeks.
Prefer to wear glitter elsewhere? Lacquer on the lacquer with some pretty metallic and sparkly nail polish. With all the crazy and fun nail art being worn today it’s almost impossible to get metallic nails wrong. Add some crystals for a funky nail look.
Did you know that you can actually buy a kit to make your own glitter or crystal tattoos? Ok now that you do, leave them to your kids. Although they are cute, these tattoos are best left for Halloween and shouldn’t be worn by adult women in public.
Sparkly jewelry headbands and hats are great to wear to accessorize a simple outfit. Don’t go overboard by wearing all glitter. Make your outfit stand out by adding a sparkly headband or sequined hat. Consider layering several sparkly bracelets with a few necklaces. Add some sparkled shoes. But always keep the rest of your outfit simple. Just an added touch of sparkle can add some much needed drama to your attire but keep in mind that you want to stand out for looking great not because you’re blinding the crowd.
