The revolution has a theme song

"You want music to move the freedom movement forward?" John Ringer asked the Libertarian News Examiner. "I've got the theme song for the next American revolution."

Support The Plan:

It's an anti-government protest song, the style is country-rock, its name is "My country my ass" and it's a part of Ringer's plan.

Step one of his plan is sending CDs of his song to radio stations nationwide.

"Generally speaking, they are not going to play it," Ringer admits.

Enter step 2: set up a web page for each state listing all radio stations that have the CD and explain how people can request the song.

Step 3 is up to you. "Get people to request the song," he says.

He wants politicians and their staffs to hear it and recognize that "We the People do not like what they are doing." He wants

John Ringer: "You can consider this
song to be a commercial against the
government."

government employees to hear it and realize that they're on the wrong side - they're part of the problem.

The idea came to Ringer a few years ago when he saw a TV commercial that featured John Mellencamp's song, "My Country" filled with "wholesome, proud, apple pie images."

Ringer's response was, "My Country my ass. I should write a song making fun of that song."

As for his libertarian creds, Ringer says, "I became a libertarian without knowing it."

His path was initially economic, starting with Harry Browne's "You Can Profit from a Monetary Crisis," continuing through "The Greatest Con, How the Government is Fleecing You" by Irwin Schiff (Peter Schiff's father) and then into "None Dare Call it Conspiracy" by Gary Allan.

John Ringer: "I think not paying income
tax is the most patriotic non violent
  thing an American can do."

Then Ringer got what he calls "some junk mail" from Ron Paul's 1988 presidential campaign. "It said he wanted to get rid of the IRS and the Federal Reserve Bank and I thought, 'These guyswant to do exactly what needs to be done!' and then I learned they were called Libertarians."

He went to work for Paul's 1988 campaign but eventually became disillusioned when he later discovered that, at the time, no Libertarian had ever been elected to any office anywhere.

Reading Harry Browne's "How I found Freedom in an Unfree World" convinced him to stop trying to change the world to his liking and instead adapt himself to the reality of the world around him.

Ringer admits to "a long period of political inactivity" before finally finding his cause: "My country my ass."

Here's another good theme song for Libertarians...Wake Up by Rage Against the Machine from the Matrix soundtrack.

Great song! I just listened to it and love it! I tried to give five stars, or leave a comment on Ringer's website, but it's too difficult. Password, type of internet, email, blah blah blah blah. Forget it. Just want to say it's a great song.

Great song, and you're right...it won't get played on the radio. However, you CAN send to link to all your friends... >;-D
