News broke everywhere this week that the highly anticipated and long awaited fifth installment of the Phantasm franchise has finished it’s principle photography. This is great news for horror fans as that means soon enough we will see the world of Don Coscarelli return to us on the screen. While he helped with screenplay this time the directing duties have been turned over to long time collaborator David Hartman (Godzilla The Series). One of the most inciting things about the announcement is that the entire original cast returns including Michael Baldwin, Reggie Bannister, Bill Thornbury, Kat Lester and Angus Scrimm.

One of the most beloved franchises in horror history is Coscarelli’s Phantasm. Through the years it is still one of the most sought after films for midnight screenings and festival appearances. It looks as if the crew has been busy the past two years making the film in California but the legacy has been going for a decade. Don chose Hartman to direct due to working with him on Bubba Ho-tep and enjoying his other directing achievements. It was also announced that we will finally see more of the Tall Man’s world so the news gets better and better.

After numerous attempts to create remakes by larger studios it’s nice to see that voice of the horror hounds was heard and Phantasm will be finished by it’s creators. Look for more on Phantasm Ravager soon but for now enjoy the teaser poster and teaser trailer.
