The return of the Mohammed cartoons?

by Kurt Westergaard

Nearly three years ago, a shocked Western world witnessed “a carefully orchestrated campaign of incitement” and intimidation that left embassies ablaze and innocent people dead – all ostensibly on account of some mediocre drawings of the Prophet Mohammed deemed offensive by Muslim leaders.

The resulting debates about the limits of free speech have died down, but depictions of Mohammed continue to spark outrage around the world, mostly below the mass media’s radar.

Last week, for example
, the government of Indonesia denounced as “very inappropriate” two online drawings of the Prophet Mohammed. Many Muslims believe it is forbidden to depict Mohammed under any circumstances, let alone in “sexual situations,” as these cartoons reportedly do. The country’s communications minister asked the website to remove the drawings or face being shut down by its internet service provider.

Now comes a report from a Jordanian news service of “New Danish Anti-Islamic Drawings to be Published Soon,” in a book of political satire co-authored by Kurt Westergaard. Westergaard drew the most notorious of the original “Mohammed cartoons”: a bearded man wearing a bomb instead of a turban.

In a case of history repeating itself, one Muslim leader hurried to denounce the new illustrations, sight unseen. A Danish imam, Abdel Wahed Pederson remarked ominously:

“It seems that Kurt has not learned anything over the past three years. I don’t know how he thinks. Is he really thinking of the safety of the Danish society?”

Pederson vowed that he and other Muslims would denounce the new cartoons as they “did the last time.”

Westergaard, on the other hand, advised Danish Muslims to get used to such drawings. “I have no problems with Islam. My problem is with terrorists” who use Islam to justify their crimes.

I am about as hard-core right wing as you can get and like a lot right-wingers I am also fair and just, much to the chagrin of those facist phony left wingers. I will state it is totally out of line to blaspheme someone's religion whatever the circumstances. Drawing pictures of Mohammed in "sexual situations" is totally disrespectful to any just human being. As a christian I would be deeply offended if Christ were portrayed in such as a manner. It seems to me it is generally open season on all religions other than judaism, I guess the anti-semitic accusation scares people away from demeaning their followers.

I hear you, Harry, but note that these kinds of over the top depictions were unheard of until AFTER 9/11 etc., and the subsequent "stealth jihad" campaign I wrote about here on Monday.

In other words, a very tiny handful of Westerners are trying to 'push back' against Muslim supremicists, using really over the top provocations.

And remember: none of the original 'Mohammed' cartoons were really offensive, just silly. What started riots were the two ADDITIONAL images that unscrupulous imams added to the mix later, to stir up their followers!

Well as stated I am fair and just, therfore I feel all those muslim extremists should be deported or jailed for the safety of the Danish citizens. As such all muslim extremist should be deported in all of Europe/America and any other western country for that matter. Most people mistake kindness for weakness, and the west has been too kind for too long. So rather than demean their religion with drawings-give them a boot in the ass and tell them to never come back. Political correctness be damned!

I learned everything I needed to learn about Islam on September 11, 2001, and again yesterday. It is a religion of hate and must be stopped at all cost. Until I see and read and hear the majority of Muslims condemn and WORK TO STOP the radical hoards, I will continue to despise the religion. EVERYWHERE in the world that they live, they are at war with their neighbors and even their own countrymen. EVERY conflict around the world today involves Muslims.
