For those who have been watching the FDA do a double take on micro needle skin rollers, there is good news. The FDA has recently given the green light to one dermatologist company's derma roller which will be relaunched over the next few months. So why is that exciting news when skin rollers are found all over eBay?
The needles on skin rollers on Amazon and eBay are too long to use at home. The needles are long enough to pierce the skin and draw blood and are intended only for clinical use. Used at home, they are painful, can cause infections, rashes, sores and other problems. Any needles longer than .22 inches are not safe to use at home. For example, the needle rash seen in this photo was caused by a derma needle roller with .5 inch needles.
This makes the news of the FDA's re-approval of the .22 inch microneedle skin roller especially exciting. The roller will be re-launched for consultants on Sept. 23, 2013 and for Preferred Customers the end of October. It will be available to the general public again next year.
