The responsibilities of a spiritual reader

We had an incident recently after our 1st Saturday Spiritual Forum with a person being extremely unhappy with the readings that were received.  This person was told by three different readers that weight loss was required in order to form a relationship.  We will return the money spent by this person to attend the forum.  This article is about what to expect from spiritual readers when you ask for their inputs.

What struck me about this situation was that three readers each received the same information regarding the need for weight loss without any discussion among them.  When I sought information about why this "weight loss message" was important, my guides informed me that the bigger issue was diabetes and heart disease, not a relationship concern.  We will talk with our readers about how they give out their information, but we will not tell them to change the message.

The recipient's own focus on why there was no relationship was probably a factor in how the connection between weight loss and a relationship was established for each reader.  Whether verbally expressed or not, the major concerns of the person getting the reading will steer the reader towards these issues and concerns.  Readings are not done in a vacuum.  The person's spirit guides provide information to the reader based upon the person's major issues or concerns.

Each reader has their own method of getting spiritual information, and getting in tune with the recipient of the messages.  Our main goal is to provide messages that contain truth, wisdom, love and light.  Sometimes, the truth is not well received.  Sometimes, the messenger loses sight of the “love and light” clause.  We will discuss this incident with our readers with regard to how to present potentially unpleasant information, but the recipient must be willing to receive the information.  This is especially true if the same message is coming from multiple readers.

In order to start a message, I say a prayer that covers many important aspects of a person’s life, including health, life purpose, family, and material needs.  I notice blips in energy as I go through the prayer, and these are the areas where I start the message.  Spiritual messages are by no means infallible.  The only person that can determine the accuracy is the recipient, and the recipient will often come back to say that a message that they thought was incorrect turned out to be true.  The very questions that you ask are often a guide from your own intuition as to where you should be focusing attention...

I have had inputs from another reader that readers should never give out negative messages.  I find this unacceptable because spirit guides will often provide warnings or give information in advance of an event.  Several months ago, our lead minister told me that she received information that my father was not in good health.  He passed over a few weeks ago.  Her message to me allowed me to prepare the rest of my family that there might be a health crisis coming for my Dad.

Most of our messages are purely informational, and many are very positive.  Our goal is to encourage spiritual development, and to help our recipients lead a positive and powerful life.  We have watched many people grow and flourish as they become readers and healers.  When you serve others, you serve yourself.  One major benefit of being either a reader or healer is that you get spiritual help for yourself when you need it.  The spirit world rewards its servants.

Several years ago, I gave a young woman a message to be very careful when going over a railroad crossing.  Another friend criticized me because this message caused the woman great concern.  My response is that I give the messages that I receive from spirit.  The woman can ignore the message or take it seriously.  My responsibility is to provide the spirit message without distortion and as accurately as possible.  If I had not given out this warning, and the woman was slammed by a freight train, I would be in serious error as a spiritual reader.

There have been a few times when I have said the prayer I use to get in touch with the recipient and the recipient’s spirit guides and I get absolutely nothing.  There are many possible reasons that this can happen.  Some days I read over 30 people and I get tired.  Sometimes the person is blocking the information to see if I can get information despite their interference.  In any case, I tell them I am sorry that I can’t provide information, and I move on.  Another responsibility of a spiritual reader is to never make up something just to be able to provide information.  You get what I get; no more; no less.

When you go to a spiritual reader, and there are a bunch of them in Columbus, go with an attitude that you will receive the information given with an open mind and ask the questions that you want answered.  It is up to you to evaluate each response as your own intuition dictates.   Make sure that you really are seeking wisdom, truth, love and light.  If that is not your goal, you are probably in the wrong place for the wrong reasons.

You can find out about the 1st Saturday Spiritual Forum done at the Christian Spiritualist Temple at www.christianspiritualisttemple.org.  That site also has information about many of the other spiritualist churches in Columbus, and their programs to provide spiritual information.

Some readers insist that you cannot learn to be a reader.  According to them, you either are born with the ability to receive spiritual information or not.  This is egotistical thinking on that person's part.  We have taught over 100 people to be readers in the years I have been at our church.  Other churches have been able to do the same instructions.

We offer spiritual development classes on a love offering basis every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.  If you have the interest, focus and desire, you can become a reader or a healer.  For those people that are inclined to refer to the Bible, read II Corinthians chapter 12 and Romans chapter 12.  These verses tell you that these gifts are from the Creator, and you are part of the creation.  Learn to quiet your mind, and you will begin to get your own spiritual information.  If you are impatient or need input on an immediate concern, come and see us at the 1st Saturday Spiritual Forum.
