Most people perceive astrology and numerology as two completely different things, the former dealing with studying the planetary movements of the major celestial bodies in our Solar system, and the latter with that of the numbers in our lives. Both are concerned with how either planets or numbers influence our destiny, our relationships, our careers, and so on. However, astrology and numerology are, in fact, connected, they go together perfectly well.
Let’s take an astrologer and ask him what astrology is. The answer will be that, above all, it is a science. And as we know, science relies on mathematics, which only means one thing – numbers.
In creating and reading birth charts or in making accurate astrological predictions, one has to be very specific with their calculations. For example, a complete and correct birth chart requires angles, aspects, degrees, and other geometric relationships between the stars and planets. Terms such as Signs, Triplicities, Quadraplucities, and Houses may sound impossible to understand, but they’re all logical notions, the meaning of which has been set based on numbers.
Reading astrological charts is like decoding ancient parchments, when you need a code and a key to it in order to fully understand the information that it contains. In doing so, a lot of mysteries are unveiled. Therefore, astrologers have to use numbers, to know the symbolism and hidden meanings behind them. Without this knowledge, it would be impossible for them to interpret a natal chart.
So far we’ve looked at how astrology is connected to numerology, but let’s analyze the relationship between the two from the other side, too. While astrology is completely dependent upon numbers and calculations, numerology is enhanced by astrology. In our Solar system a divine connection exists between numbers and planets, each number from 0 through 9 being ruled by a planet, the sun or the moon. Furthermore, an astrological sign of the zodiac is traditionally associated with each number.
While astrology can’t be understood and correctly interpreted without numerology, the latter is a whole lot less complex than astrology and it doesn’t require a rich baggage of knowledge about astrology in order to be used. Still, a numerological reading can be considerably enhanced by an understanding of basic astrology, such as the basic planetary influences.
This strong connection between astrology and numerology isn’t something new, it has existed for centuries, dating almost 3000 years back, to Pythagoras. As any high school student can tell you, Pythagoras of Samos is one of the most renowned mathematicians, having created the theorem which bears his name. Not only has Pythagoras contributed to mathematics, but he also made important contributions to astronomy.
Very few people know that the Greek mathematician has discovered more profound meanings of numbers, intrinsic meanings which hold the answer to many of our questions about life. He affirmed that once you broke everything down into numbers from 0 through 9, each of them had the potential to uncover a recognizable pattern that could provide us with valuable insights.
Given the way in which these two systems – astrology and numerology – function, it becomes more and more logical for them to fit together and to complete each other so well. If you had a reading done by both an astrologer and a numerologist, you would be surprised to see how they reinforce each other, leading to a better understanding of your charts.
