Reem Acra presented her Spring 2013 womenswear collection at a runway show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The collection is made up of 37 outfits of day and evening wear, which according to Ms. Acra evokes Aaron Young motorcycle inspired artwork. The clothes are sleek, beautiful, adorn with her signature us of dazzling embellishments, and very feminine. The fashion show contained many strong pieces. Here just a handful of the many standouts.
One sexy daywear outfit is a green leather shell and ivory leather pencil skirt, both with laser cut motorcycle tread detail. The revealing nature of the cutout details in the shell is quite daring for such a high end outfit, but its done tastefully and splendidly.
Another lovely use of cutout is a midnight navy silk crepe cut out gown with gold hand beaded trim. This gown is very elegant, sophisticated, yet seductively form fitting.
A third outstanding look is a gold beaded shimmer gown. It's glitter, sparkles and see-thru fabric is just dazzling. It is the proverbial pot of gold found at the end of the rainbow, and is surely a red carpet gown for a young star.
For a theatrical and dramatic dress, the vermilion silk chiffon draped over hand embroidered gown is wonderful. It's bold, rich color, and intricate hand embroidery is a show stopper.
