No matter what style of music you set out to play one intangible fact remains the same, you must tour. Tour and practice make you a better band, a better artist and helps build a fan base that makes labels take notice of you. There are millions of bands out there trying to make their mark on the industry. One of those hard working bands that you need to take notice of is the family operated "Redhead Express" from Nashville, TN. The Walker sisters, Kendra (Lead Singer/Guitar), LaRae (Banjo/Utility Woman), Alisa (Fiddle & Mandolin) and Meghan (Stand Up Bass) have been touring the country for the past 7 years performing over 200 shows per year including some of the top festivals. The sisters have shared the stage with many notable acts and done everything to make their mark on the Country music scene. Now that they call Nashville home they are gearing up to show everyone what years of blood, sweat and tears can do. Their new album is set to be released very soon and they just signed a deal with a YouTube producer for their videos which are commanding hits from all over the world. This family ran band is poised to make everyone take notice.
The new disc is just as good as their first effort "The Studio Sessions" which independently sold well enough to pay for all their touring and recording sessions during the first few years of the band. "Happy" is a very upbeat Dixie Chicks/Martina McBride style song that will keep your feet tapping and pull you into the dance floor. The song is a country version of the Pharrell Williams - Happy (from Despicable Me 2) and the sisters hit the mark with it. "Sing" is a ballad that showcases the sisters many vocal and musical abilities. If you're a fan of songs that can inspire you then you will want to download this track and play it over and over again. "Rainstorm" is a really good slower bluegrass country song with wonderful lyrics and shows just how far these ladies have grown musically. "Let Me In" has the potential to be one of the crowd favorites. The song has everything a great song need. Perfect storytelling, vocals and musicianship make this song a stand out on the upcoming disc. "Losin’ My Mind" was written with brother/sister duo, Doug Lowe and Kayliann Lowe. The song chronicles the ups and down's of relationships and planning a wedding. The song has a good mix of up beat country rock and incorporates a small amount of hip hop. Produced by Paul Worley this track will garner some serious followers and should become a radio hit for the sisters. "Do Ya" also fits the bill for this collection and will keep the fans both old and new happy with the direction the sisters are taking with their music. The band also does amazing versions of the "National Anthem" and "God Bless The USA" that will make a tear come to your eye. The video for "God Bless The USA" has already reached over 200,000 hits since July.
The good thing about "Redhead Express" is that these ladies will stand the test of time. They have a strong dedication to what they are pursuing and a strong family behind them. Hopefully with this latest effort and YouTube push it won't be long until the world is chasing after the redheads.
