The red carpet affects on local fashion

Every year, the beauties of Hollywood walk the red carpet for the Oscars in outfits we deem, in our minds, as outrageous and unpractical, as fantastic as they may be. Is it not true, however, that these outrageous creations end up setting the pace for the next season of clothes filling each of our closets?

This year, the popular tribal pattern showed up on the red carpet on Rachel Mwanza. These tribal patterns are all over the metro area in many fast fashion boutiques. In addition, Kelly Rowland and Reese Witherspoon displayed the color-block dresses that are gaining popularity, even on everyday denim. Even the geometric cutouts that Naomi Watts exhibited could show up at any of Denver's bars or clubs in a way that is less dramatic than the effect she had on the red carpet.

At any of the area malls, stores like Urban Outfitters and Bebe have a great selection of color-blocked pieces, casual and fancy. Stores like Forever 21 have an endless selection of tribal prints. If you are looking for something to show a small amount of skin in a classy way, there are the geometric cutouts on dresses in stores like Charlotte Russe.

The edgier girls in Denver can mimic Kristen Stewart’s ripped gauze look by shopping at places like Hot Topic. The options are endless, and Denver is an area that is open to expression through personal fashion and style.

So, next time you watch the red carpet pre-show, be sure to watch for the small elements of Hollywood fashion that you can incorporate into your own closet in a way that is uniquely yours.
