The Recording Academy announced today the new season debut of its Grammy Label, a luxury collection of basic items, celebrating the power of fashion and music.
The Grammy Label, courtesy of the The Recording Academy, donates a new set of instruments on a regular basis to Grammy Camp, a Grammy Foundation program that brings aspiring young music students together with working professionals for extraordinary musical experiences.
Grammy Label will be available at specialty boutiques nationwide starting in February 2013.
“Together with The Recording Academy, our vision was to develop a collection that was in line with the creative process of making music,” said Grammy Label Creative Director Caroline Rothwell.
“This is not a promotional line. This is a style that is truly inspired by musicians," she insists.
“With Grammy Label, The Academy can expand our philanthropic efforts by marrying music with fashion, and we can do so by delivering a line that encompasses all types of music for every fan universally,” said Evan Greene, Chief Marketing Officer of The Recording Academy.
Unlike the attire of Lady Gaga, who famously arrived at the 53rd annnual Grammy Awards inside an egg, this is basic clothing that anyone can wear.
For this season's debut, Grammy Label will feature graphic tees and tanks for men and women. From cotton blends in ultra-soft washes to hand-dyed tanks, Grammy Label’s loose fit and worn-in feel make them essentials for artists and fashion lovers alike.
The Grammy Label collection will be available for purchase coinciding with the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, to be held Sunday, Feb. 10, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
Grammy Label pieces are affordably priced from $50-$120. Items in the line will be available at specialty boutiques nationwide as well as at www.grammylabelcollection.com.
The music industry's “Biggest Night of the Year” will take place live on Sunday, Feb. 10, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast in high-definition TV and 5.1surround sound on the CBS Television Network from 8:00 to 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
The show also will be supported on radio worldwide via Dial Global, and covered online at Grammy.com and CBS.com, and on YouTube.
Additional performers, presenters and special segments will be announced soon.
