For the first time ever The Recording Academy partnered with beauty companies CoverGirl, Olay and Venus to debut GRAMMY Glam. The event celebrates glamour and the empowerment of women which included a list of GRAMMY award winners and nominees in attendance. Held at MyHouse in Hollywood, a live Olay photo shoot was the centerpiece of the venue setting the tone of an evening of glamour. Other activities included CoverGirl make-up artists providing touch-up applications of the new CoverGirl blast line which includes the Blast Flipstick and LashBlack Mascara that served as parting gifts for the attendees. GRAMMY Glam was social engageed with Turntable.fm, Twitter and Facebook using hash tags and photos as part of the experience. Fans were able to visit an interactive virtual suite at turntable.fm/grammy_glam for a chance to showcase their spinning skills.
GRAMMY Glam held no stops with DJ performances by Erykah Badu and Spinderella, both GRAMMY award-winners. Erykah Badu is best known for her soulful voice dubbing her a four-time GRAMMY award-winner however the artist showcased one of her other talents for the night. GRAMMY Glam brought out the artist’s persona DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown to get the party started with her set of classic soul tracks mixed with authentic hip-hop sounds of A Tribe Called Quest. DJ Spinderella of hip-hop iconic rap group Salt N Pepa took the crowd to another level with her arsenal of tracks. Attendees included Jesse Williams (actor, Grey’s Anatomy), Dawn Richards (music artist, Danity Kane & Dirty Money), Goapele (music artist, Break of Dawn) and Erica Mena (Love & Hip Hop).
