The Record Lounge helps usher in Midnight Madness at Michigan State

On Monday August 30, The Record Lounge, by now a staple in the culture of Michigan State University, will host local artists like Elliot Street Lunatic, Boleyn and Ben Hassenger to celebrate Midnight Madness and to welcome in new students. The event will run approximately from Noon until 11pm. Also, there will be vinyl giveaways and free swag like buttons, stickers and posters given out. She says that this is the third year The Record Lounge has celebrated Midnight Madness and feels that her store has become apart of the university's culture.

Supporting local music has helped The Record Lounge establish itself in East Lansing since it's inception in 2008. She says "I try to get that local music out to the people by having a large local section". The Record Lounge also hosts The Middle of the Mitten showcase each year to celebrate the store's anniversary. Artists like Mr. Denton on Doomsday and Lifesize Ghost have played the event.

With all The Record Lounge does to help the local scene and Michigan State, Frarey says that the communal aspect of Michigan State and events like Midnight Madness help make her store's involvement that much more special. She says "Everyone does their part to make sure that it is a special thing and that the students will always remember those times".

You can add another event you'll never forget by attending The Record Lounge's Moonlight Madness concert and celebration of all things Michigan State. For more information including the full band lineup and other updates, please visit the Facebook event page here:
