The reason why Aviva Drescher was removed from 'RHONY' opening

Fans were left wondering whether Aviva Drescher was actually fired from "The Real Housewives of New York City" after watching the latest episode that aired on Tuesday, May 6. Not only did Aviva not go with the rest of the housewives to Heather Thomson's house in the Berkshires, she was actually removed from the opening credit.

Fans were quick to take to Twitter to talk about Aviva's disappearance. One person posted a snapshot of that night's opening credit that shows all of the housewives holding up an apple, with Aviva noticeably absent from her usual place next to Heather. He asked Andy Cohen and Bravo TV for an explanation.

When one person replied that Heather explained to Ramona Singer that Aviva wouldn't be going on the trip because she was out of town, another person pointed out that other housewives in the past who weren't present in some episodes were still featured in the opening credit. Indeed, Ramona herself missed filming some episodes when she went to Africa with daughter Avery but she was still shown holding the apple.

According to a Naughty But Nice article posted that night, the removal of Aviva from the show's opening was done intentionally by Bravo to drum up controversy and thus ratings. Apparently, the housewives aren't the only ones who engage in passive-aggressive behavior. Naughty But Nice explains that Aviva wouldn't go to Montana with the other housewives because she didn't want to rough it out with her prosthetic leg and asthma. As a result, Bravo banned her from several episodes and removed her from the openings of those episodes.

Aviva's fans don't have to worry about her permanently no longer being a housewife though. Sources added that Aviva has not actually been fired from the show but will return after the housewives' trip to the Berkshires and Montana.

Aviva Drescher herself isn't letting on that anything is amiss with "The Real Housewives of New York City." Despite not being in Tuesday night's episode, she still made sure to stir the pot by retweeting a link to an article that talks about her blasting the other housewives. On Wednesday, May 7, she also retweeted a link to a video interview that she gave in which she talks about season six.
