For those who are unfamiliar, steampunk is the science fiction and fashion of the Victorian era. It includes H. G. Wells style time travel, mad scientists like Mary Shelley's Dr. Frankenstein, horrible creatures of the night and aether night as one would find in H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu. Movies such as the recent Sherlock Holmes and "Wild Wild West
" are often cited as examples. While excellent movies, the Steampunk fans tend to be very imaginative and there creative works include books, video, fancy gadgetry, and amazing wardrobes, to name a few.

Friday after the arrival of Her Royal Majesty, Queen Victoria, the Lords and Ladies were treated to a reception where they had the opportunity to be presented to the Queen. After the Queen's reception, many music fans waited for the meet and greet with the band Lee Press-on and the Nails, and Steam Powered Giraffe, but sadly for their fans, they never showed.

Some of the cast of the Steampunk web series, "Tinker", were in attendance. The "Tinker" crew just recently completed a successful Kickstarter campaign and will be shooting the series pilot soon. Lesley Scott of The Steampunk Soiree and The Weird Review, interviewed the Associate Producer/Costumer, Corena Gibson and Actress, Emily Lawrence, and will be interviewing Strix Beltran today.

Later they and their party adjourned for a meal in the Promenade Cafe. According to those present, the food was tasty but over priced, the fries were cold, and the waiter inattentive, garnering the Queen Mary's fare a 3 out of 5 rating from the guests. In the cafe they met up with Steampunk Gypsy duet, Frenchy and the Punk. Frenchy and the Punk will have a meet and greet at 4 p.m. and then will be performing for Her Royal Majesty and the court at 6:45 p.m.

With two days left of the symposium there is still much yet to be experienced including Ripper Alley, parlor games, and the Costume Contest.
