2013 is all almost all over and it is time to celebrate the beginning of 2014. Throughout Orange County and Long Beach, places are gearing up to provide celebrants with different ways to ring in the New Year. Here's a look at some of them, guaranteed to provide great atmosphere, food and drinks so you can celebrate right through the New Year.
The Queen Mary, Long Beach
The Queen Mary is not just hosting a evening of food and drink. Instead, the eve of December 31st will relaunch the retired ocean-liner to her voyaging days with a one-night world cruise – The Ultimate New Year’s Eve 'Voyage'. “Passengers” will be transported to the vibrant streets of India, carnival nights in Brazil, the extravagant Moulin Rouge in France and Times Square in New York before returning to the ship’s beginning, a village in Scotland. For those who’ve dreamed of celebrating the New Year abroad, this is a great way to do it without ever leaving Long Beach.
Countries featured in the event will include an evening in Bombay, India, New York City's Times Square and the Rockettes along with a Parisian New Years special. Tickets for the Ultimate New Year’s Eve Voyage begin at $99 with the “Tourist Class” boarding pass which includes general admission to the ship's "Tourist Class" decks, salons and bars, strolling entertainers, live bands and DJs, plus a party favor and view of the midnight fireworks. Optional upgrades include dinner, bottle service and New Year's Day Brunch. A special “Tasting Pass” for $49.00 includes appetizers from around the world. Sir Winston's will feature Lobster Bisque with Truffle Oil, Pan Roasted Halibut and Beef Wellington among the items on their menu, while the Chelsea Chowder House has on their menu items including Oyster Rockefeller and New York Steak. All the restaurants on the Queen Mary have their own prices for their dinners created by Executive Chef Todd Henderson. The Globe OC in Garden Grove is having a New Years Eve Countdown Party starting at 7PM. Canapes, Coquille St. Jacque and more will be featured on the 6-course menu. Reservations can be for this event at 714-537-7471. Fine beers from Belgium, wines and cocktails will be available throughout the evening. The cost for the Globe's New Years Countdown Party is $59.90 plus tax and 18% gratuity.
Wineworks for Eveeryone and their adjacent Dublin 4 Gastropub are both having two seatings of New Years Dinners with entertainment. First courses include Maine Lobster Risotto while special Entrees include Braised Sonoma Lamb Osso Bucco, Seared Diver Scallops and Pan Roasted Loch Duart Salmon.
