The Q Hotel + Spa in Kansas City's Westport Neighborhood
Located in the heart of Historic Westport,
is an affordable, relaxing escape from it all.
Situated at 560 Westport Road, in the middle of the bustling Kansas City dining and entertainment scene, this boutique, 122-room hotel has somehow managed to create and maintain an off-the-beaten path ambiance and allure that is attracting locals desiring a night “away,” as well as out-of-town visitors.
The first thing to catch your eye is the chic lobby, decorated with oversized crimson leather chairs, rich hardwoods, floor-to-ceiling windows, brick, flowing drapery and artistic art and light fixtures sprinkled throughout. To the right of the entrance foyer you’ll find an inviting Lobby Bar/Coffee Shop, the perfect place to wind down with a cocktail (free during the nightly Manager’s Evening Reception) after a long day of meetings or travel, or to start your day with a cup of java or other morning beverage.
The lounge area feels like your own living room, with a see-through fireplace, high-topped cocktail tables, the aforementioned oversized crimson leather chairs and couches, books, magazines and muted-music. Each of the hotel’s floors and rooms are colorful, art deco and stylish, instantly capturing the senses.
Billed as Kansas City’s first green hotel, the hotel was formerly the Quarterage Hotel. In 2007, it underwent a complete renovation, reopening as a premier eco-friendly lodging destination. The hotel’s “38 point 'Green' plan”--considered by some to be one of the most meticulous, eco-friendly policies in the hospitality industry--encompasses energy efficient electrical and water devices, in-room recycling and Green Seal approved cleaning products, for starters. Eco-friendly transportation includes complimentary shuttle service via Hybrid car (for large groups there is also a 15-passenger van) and bicycles for guest use.
Within minutes the shuttle can get you anywhere in the surrounding area, including the Nelson-Atkins or Kemper Museums, Crown Center, the National World War I Museum, Union Station, The Country Club Plaza, the Historic 18th and Vine District, the Power and Light District, or the Sprint Center and adjacent College Basketball Experience. Oh, and if you drove to the hotel, unlike most of the area’s hotels parking is free!.
Business travelers will find The Q to be a chic and relaxing yet “business-functional” option—with all the necessary accoutrement in the rooms as well as in the Business Center--to the sometimes stuffy, rooms and hotels often found while on the road.
Pampering at the Q Hotel includes, by appointment only, individual or couples spa treatments including Hot Stone Therapy or Swedish massages, manicures and pedicures.
Keeping up with your workout routine is easy at The Q as well. Although they don’t have a fitness room on premises, guests can workout for free one block away at Gold’s Gym (they do however, offer weekly yoga classes on site).
In the morning, guests enjoy a free, self-serve hot breakfast on the lower level including fresh fruit, baked goods, cereals, juices, hot beverages and more, plus made-to-order omelets.
For a unique getaway in the heart of the city, you’ll truly enjoy The Q Hotel + Spa.
