The Purpose of our lives

“In him we were also chose, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will” (Eph 1:11)

Many Christians and non-Christians alike ponder the “Big Question”. It is asked in a variety of ways: What is the meaning of life? Why am I here? What is my purpose for living? Paul’s letter to the Ephesians devotes attention to this issue:
• For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (2:10)
• Understand what the Lord’s will is (5:17)
• Be filled with the Spirit (5:18)
• Like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart (6:6)
• Make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything (5: 19-20)
• Live a life of love (5:2)
The message is clear: It is in Christ and the Holy Spirit that we find out who we are and what we are living for.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Eph 3:20)
