San Juan, Puerto Rico - Due to the cancellations of outbound and incoming flights from many of the northeastern United States airports, passenger transit has significantly increased at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. All airlines are encouraging passengers check their flight status (including connecting flights) prior to leaving for the airport. If you plan on contacting your airline to make changes to your reservations please allow a waiting time of near two hours to be assisted over the phone.

In addition, the remodeling and maintenance efforts at TSA checkpoint 4 at Terminal B makes it unavailable to screen departing passengers. However, checkpoints, located at Terminals A, C and D, continue operating normally.

The Puerto Rico Tourism Corporation (PRTC) warns travelers about the likelihood of additional time needed to go through the standard security procedures. They strongly recommend that travelers arrive at the airport at least three hours in advance of their scheduled departure time to have time to go through check points and make alternate arrangements if necessary.
