Running the risk of sounding like a history lesson, lets look back at a little timeline of our beloved internet and how it has become so prevalent in our lives today.
30 years ago, there was no internet.
20 years ago there was no google,
and you had to pay for email through an ISP.
10 years ago facebook, youtube and twitter didnt even exist.
now there is a website for everything, and countless business and professionals flock to the internet daily for updates, websites, news, coupons, info, research and much more.
Sites like this one tell a story of just how powerful the internet has become even in its early stages.
From the first idea for the telephonoscope in 1878, then others began working on transmitting and receiving devices and by 1911 working models of televisions were being produced and was commercially available by the 1920's.
But in the 1960's when the United states government and leading European countries commissioned and began building a safer and more secure network between computers, it wasn't until the early 1980's where we see the actual beginnings of the modern 'internet'.
Much like television, the internet was widely received and heralded as a powerhouse in the communications world, allowing almost instantaneous transmission of data and information across all accessible networks, soon it was in nearly everyone's home, in fact 80% of North America has an internet capable device, they have internet TV, Free WiFi internet at nearly every sit-down restaurant and coffee shop in every large city.
The internet has invaded TV's previous markets and seems to be here to stay, in fact many stations and channels on the internet now offer live streaming (much like TV) with the free flow of data and the ease of accessibility anyone and everyone has found a home on the internet.
Who knows, there might even be a sight for you!
