January 5th corresponds with the element of earth and the Mother Earth phase of the three fold Goddess. The Goddess in this phase conceals many mysteries within her. In this form she creates and inspires just as the earth beneath our feet creates and inspires us in its many forms. Today will be filled with energies and mysteries for you to admire, feel and work with.
An example of these mysteries are the ley lines. Alfred Watkins, author of the book The Old Straight Track (1925), has said in his book that they are the vestiges of prehistoric tracks that directly link certain Pagan sacred sites in England. It is said that earth energy is concentrated in the ley lines and many Wiccans believe that these energy fields can be tapped into and used for both magical and spiritual purposes.
Since today is highly associated with the earth and earth energy it is a good day to do magic associated with your career. If you a career goal for this year you can take advantage of this day to help clarify your intent and boost your determination to reach it. Using the earths influence you can light a brown candle and watch the flame intently. Almost as though you were meditating with the flame. Visualize yourself enjoying the success of your career goals.
