A home robbery in Lake City, Florida, was thwarted on Friday night after the home owner began invoking the name of Jesus.
Fifteen women, including the home owner Jacquie Hagler, gathered on a Friday night for a jewelry party. The party included a fake robbery armed with a water gun coming into the home.
Instead of a fake robber and a water gun, 24-year-old Derrick Lee entered the home armed with a real gun. Lee demanded the jewelry and cell phones from the party guests.
Hagler, believing the gun was fake, pushed it away. Lee stated the gun was not a water pistol. It was then Hagler realized Lee was not part of the party plans.
According to the police report, Hagler told the robber, "Get out of my house in the name of Jesus!" It was after this initial burst the other women began chanting the name "Jesus."
Lee, confused and bewildered, fled the scene without stealing anything. He was later arrested after a second failed robbery attempt at an ATM.
