The political event to watch: Mike Huckabee hosting

Contrary to the rumors, Mike Huckabee has emphatically denied that he ever endorsed Mitt Romney.  To say that you would support the Republican nominee even if it ends-up being Romney having been misconstrued as an endorsement of Mitt Romney is quite a stretch.  This twisted story was quite unbelievable for 2 reasons:  1)  Many of his loyal fans still understandably have bad blood with the Romney camp because of the 2008 unfair primary process and media coverage.  2)  He would not have endorsed any candidate after already having candidates confirmed to attend an upcoming event in which he is to be hosting.

Governor Huckabee would of had to be on a political and journalistic suicide mission to have endorsed any candidate under these circumstances and especially not Mitt Romney.

On the contrary, we can anticipate possibly one of the most unique and fairly orchestrated media events in recent political history.  When was the last time we had the opportunity to tune into a presidential primary event in which the host just 4 years ago was himself a marginalized Presidential candidate that was treated unfairly in many of the debates?  If you have not been tuning into the debates thus far, this event could possibly be the one to watch.

Mike Huckabee can empathize with the incredible pressure on Presidential candidates having to stand up behind their podiums for all the world to scrutinize.  He also knows what it is like to be belittled to the point of having to twittle his thumbs while waiting for the mainstream media's pick of frontrunners to finish going after each other with media-driven nonsense in an effort to waste most of the debate time on just two of the many candidates on the stage.  If you did not notice last time around that this unfair tactic was used repeatedly against both Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul that were polling well, you were just not paying attention.

Perhaps for the reasons previously stated, this event is actually being billed as a "Forum" rather than a debate.  In a story published by the New York Times recently, the invitation letter specifically lays out the format of the forum.  Each candidate will have equal time and be questioned for 8-10 minutes each.  There will be no point at which candidates will face each other.  There will also be no studio audience.  More of the preliminary details can be seen here.

The only disappointment I can see is that Gary Johnson was still not invited and am still trying to figure out why the only candidate that is both a former Governor and former Congressman, Buddy Roemer has still never been invited to any of the debates.

With all that said, this should be a very good primary event to tune into.  It is scheduled for December 3rd at 8pm ET at the Fox News studios in New York.  It is taking place exactly one month before the all important Iowa caucus and being hosted by the last Republican to win it.
