The folks over at Inhabitots are polling their readers about this not-so-soft and cuddly bear. The Placenta Teddy Bear is making its debut at the Doing it for the Kids exhibit in England. This exhibit is showcasing sustainable toy designs.
According to inventorspot.com, "the placenta is cut in half and cured with salt. Once it dries it is treated with a mixture of something called tannin
and some egg yolk. This mixture makes the placenta soft and easy to shape into teddy bear form."
While it has long been thought that the placenta provides various post-birth benefits, particularly when eaten (termed Placentophagia), this is the first time it has been used in such a way.
