The Pixies are coming to San Jose . . . but who plays bass?

Monday's announcement of Paz Lenchantin (A Perfect Circle, ZWAN) joining The Pixies as their low-end provider came as bit of a relief for ticket holders of the Feb. 22nd show at the San Jose Civic Center.

If you've been following the Pixies, you know that the band has been engulfed in drama; a drama the stems from original bassist, Kim Deal's departure in June.

Deal left the Boston 4-piece to work on other projects. Deal's turbulent, working relationship with lead guitarist/vocalist, Charles Thompson (a.k.a. Frank Black), was well documented throughout the band's life. Whether it was a contributing factor to Deal's decision to leave the act is pure conjecture (see video for more).

Her departure would leave a hole that would be filled by guitarist/singer Kim Shattuck - the current lead singer/guitarist of SoCal, punk trio, The Muffs. The band embarked on the European tour with Shattuck, and completed with her, only to fire her upon the leg's completion in November.

But, as inferred on Monday, the show must go on. The band has formally announced that Paz Lenchantin will be the touring bassist for the American leg; a leg which includes a San Jose show.

Tickets remain available for the San Jose concert. Cost is $50, and the L.A. based, alt-rock duo, Best Coast is set to open. Visit the San Jose Theaters site HERE for more info.
