The Phillie Phanatic is loved by everyone

It’s tough for any organization to build brand loyalty. Every once in a while they are lucky enough to cross over from loyalty to beloved.

A great example of this might be how the Phillies might are in the off season but the Phillie Phanatic has been in the news lately. A few weeks ago Philly native Tina Fey was shown talking on her NBC show 30 Rock talking about her belief the Phanatic is a woman.

This was topped the following week when he made a guest appearance. The episode featured Alec Baldwin’s character Jack bringing in the Phanatic along with famous Philadelphia foods such as cheese steaks and Tasty Kakes as a gift for his boss who is from our city.

The best part of the episode is the obvious glee on Tina Fey’s face when she was in a scene with the Phanatic. She could barely stand still she seemed so excited to see him.

The fact they used the Phanatic speaks to the fact he is so well known and easily recognizable all over the country.  It is easy to see that he is loved by more than just Tina Fey.

The Phillies brought the Phanatic on years ago as a way to compete with the San Diego Chicken and now his popularity has far surpassed the chicken.  What began as a marketing strategy has grown far beyond what the Phillies had planned.
