"The Perfect Storm" is a true-story biographical movie based on Captain Billy Tyne and the Andrea Gail shipwreck. The movie is based on the book "The Perfect Storm" by Sebastian Junger. "The Perfect Storm" premiered in theaters in 2000. It is directed by Wolfgang Petersen. (Cast stars: George Clooney, Diane Lane and Mark Wahlberg, according to the New York Times.

"The Perfect Storm" synopsis/plot

An intense account of a fisherman who is caught in a dangerous storm while at sea.

The true story is based on a case that happened in Gloucester, Mass in 1991. According records, Captain Billy Tyne and five other crew members were lost after their boat, the Andrea Gail, vanished off of Sable Island in the North Atlantic.

The crew had already made it to their destination but headed toward the Flemish Cap on their way home. The weather conditions worsened, causing 39ft-100ft waves. Billy Tyne's last call was to Linda Greenlaw, a captain on another ship.

A search for the missing vessel turned up several articles. The Andrea Gail has never been found.

The movie airs on the cable networks a few times a year.
