Well folks, Valentine's Day is fast approaching! As many of you who have been in relationships know, it is the time of year when so many of us begin searching for the elusive "perfect gift." Such a gift is hard to find, and it can be very stressful trying to think of ideas for something that will make your sweetie smile. Fear not, as there is nothing wrong with a tried and true gift!
Some examples are:
- a personalized CD
- a nice dinner-whether you cook it or take your special one out for it
- a love poem
Although many people tend to think that they need something different than the norm (something no one has ever thought of before), often an old standby is just as effective at getting that special thank you that you are looking for. However, if you have mastered the art of shopping for presents and are gifted in the ideas sector, feel free to let your imagination run wild! Something to take to heart when shopping for presents is that (hopefully) your significant other will be happy with anything that you give him or her. It may be their first Valentine's Day with a partner or they could have had prior negative experiences with the day. At any rate, a person always has the chance to be a possible first positive Valentine's Day experience for their significant other, and some effort should be made to make the day a memorable one!
One idea for a great present is a massage, whether it is an individual one or for both of you. There are many great massage parlors around town. One that has recently come up is West University Place's Massage Heights in Houston. Below is their website, and they are offering several Valentine's Day specials, so be sure to look them up!
Another idea is a spin on the much-adored classic love letter. Find a pretty jar or other receptacle, and fill it with a series of statements about your love, love quotes, or complimentary words that describe your significant other. There are many ways that you can decide to do a handmade gift, this is just one example. If something is handmade, it is almost always appreciated for the work and the love that was put into it
To reiterate, the most important thing is that the two of you are together on this day, and there are many ways to make it special. It is not all about the gift (though you should give each other a little something.) The moral of this story is: it doesnt matter how much it costs, as long as it comes from the heart!
