The perfect Mother's Day gift: Comfy shoes for moms (part 1)

It doesn't matter if you're a stay at home mom, a work at home mom or a work at the office mom. Moms need comfy shoes. That's something we have in common because we're always running around doing something. So I've been testing out all kinds of shoes... for you and for me and for all the other moms out there. These are the perfect Mom's Day gift or treat for yourself anyday. They run the spectrum in style, personal taste and price range, so there should be something for everyone here... (This article is split into three parts, continue reading: part 2 - amazing sandals and part 3 awesome slippers.)

MBT - Kaya - I love that this shoe is called the anti-shoe. MBT shoes claim to improve your posture, increase your butt, thigh, lower limb, and abdominal activity while reducing the stress on your hips and knees. You can watch an animation explaining how they work HERE. However it is that they work, my back and knees feel relief when I wear these shoes.  And short ladies rejoice! This shoe gives you about an inch of a boost, so you feel taller too. They feel a little weird when you first put them on because they're so unique. The sole is rounded and with each step absorbs the shock while cushioning your foot. They're, well, neato. Some people say you should go a half size up in these, but I found they fit true to size.

The North Face - Sydney This shoe is an eco-friendly, super cushiony, form fitting shoe that feels like they re-cushion your foot with each step. Plus they have a great hip look. Perfect for work and play. You'll want to walk around the town to shop instead of taking the car. They have a Cork EVA midsole with plant cellulose fiber heel cushioning, bamboo lining and 40% recylced rubber outer soles. Read more about their eco-goodness HERE.

Simple Shoes - Toepaz - This is shoe is very light-weight and has the bonus of being very eco-friendly. The bottoms of the shoes are made from recycled car tires, the uppers are made from certified organic cotton and they're lined with bamboo. There are NO animal byproducts or anything else from animals either, so they're vegan shoes. You'll feel good inside and out with these on. I found the the Toepaz run about a half size small, so if you're ordering them online go a size bigger than normal.

Terrasoles make several very different shoes that all fit the comfy category to a T and are eco-friendly. Terrasoles - Rainer Prefed are uber lightweight shoes that look like office-worthy shoes but feel like slippers. I wore these today to my latest preggo doctor appointment and I could have sold a pair to my doc. She loved them and said she thought they looked so cool and comfy that she was going to go out and by some this week. Terrasoles - Tuckerman has a cushiony sole and looks like a weekender shoe perfect for shopping the farmer's markets. Note, you should order a size up though because they run small.

Earth - Proper Slip-on Flats from Overstock.com are comfy shoes (and are way cheaper -like 40% cheaper- at Overstock then other places). The Proper shoe has an ergonomic footbed with anatomic arch support and shock-absorbing cushioning. The leather feels a little stiff at first but does flex with your foot. I'd recommend going up a size from your normal shoe size in this shoe

Aerosoles So Soft Canvas Slip On from ShoesGotSole.com are practical and comfy. These are slim and fit best on a narrower foot. They've got a 3/4" heel for those who don't like flats. They have a rugged yet classic look that go with almost anything in the closet too.

Aetrex-Lizzy Part of the Essence Collection from Aetrex, which is designed for moms on the go that don't want to sacrifice style for comfort. The line includes an array of styles that include a medical support pod for arch support and a patented Mozaic insole for customization to add extra comfort. The Lizzy in particular is super cool looking. My husband even remarked on their coolness in the pair I've been sporting around in green.

Naturalizer - Commerce from ShoeBuy.com Naturalizers have been around for a long time, known for comfort. This brand is one my mom has sworn by for years as a teacher, on her feet all day. The Commerce shoe has a hip, sporty look with all the comfort standard in Nauralizers. It does run a little narrow, so order up a size to make up the difference.
