Those of us who have a caregiver in the family and have not yet determined what would be an appropriate gift for this person; we might want to look at the most obvious. We each go about our daily lives and have the knowledge that our loved one is being cared for in a highly professional and caring way. We often say ‘Thank you’, but do we really think about these two words and say them with the whole hearted meaning we intend.
Money is tight, especially when one person in the home is in need of care. And we are frequently caught up in the day to day treadmill of making the money to pay for that extra care. We often know and tell others that we have a caregiver who is doing a marvelous job, however do we take the time to honestly say ‘Thank you’. Rather than buying a gift that perhaps the caregiver can’t accept due to ethical and business obligations, we can give them a Christmas Card. By placing in the card, a heartfelt, letter about the meaning of what the caregiver has done for our family and especially our loved one. Taking the time to think about and write this will be one of the best gifts our caregiver can receive this year, because this gift comes from the heart and is meant for the heart.
