The Crumble always comes top of the fruit pies and puddings. Whether it’s apple, strawberry- rhubarb or blackberry crumble pie or pudding, try R&H Event Management Groups Executive Chef’s favorite crumble recipe for a crunchy, crumbly topping every time.
Crumble topping is so easy to make and remember, and can be added to whatever type of stewed fruit you prefer. Just remember, 2-4-2, or 4-8-4, depending on your number of guests or how large a pie.
Serves 2 or 3 (simply double the quantities of butter, flour and sugar to serve 4 or 6)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1. First rub together the butter and flour to form a rough crumble. Next, stir in the sugar and spices. Prepare your fruit pie or pudding, following the pie or pudding instructions.
2. Pour the crumble mixture on top of the fruit. Place the pie in the oven according to the pie baking instructions or at medium temperature, for about 35 minutes.
2. Serve with crème fraiche or ice cream.
