The Pecan Street Festival, which has delighted Austinites for more than 30 years, returns to 6th Street this weekend. Boasting more than 250 arts and crafts vendors, this free bi-annual art festival will be held on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2.
Bring the family downtown to enjoy visual arts, live music and performing arts on five stages, as well as art and dance classes. Hundreds of artisans from across the United States will be selling their homemade art and crafts, from jewelry and candles to sculpture and paintings.
For children, there will be a carnival, a petting zoo, and a hands-on Art Tent with free activities. Children's entertainment will include The Bobby Cordell Magic Show, Cool Loops Trick Roping, and Ben Schave (baggy pants physical comedy, juggling and fire eating).
No need to plan lunch or dinner, as there will be plenty of international food vendors on-site.
If possible, attendees are encouraged to take public transit or bike to the festival. Last year, The Pecan Street Festival became the largest street festival in central Texas to go "green." Accordingly, festival planners encourage you to bring your own reusable shopping bags, and be sure to recycle while on festival grounds.
Saturday, May 1 from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Sunday, May 2 from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
