"The Partridge Family" actor who played band manager "Reuben Kincaid" has died. Dave Madden, 82, died on Thursday of congestive heart and kidney failure. According to Philly.com on Jan. 17, the actor lived in Fruit Cove, Florida with his wife, Sandy.
The Ontario, Canada native began his career as a standup comedian and made guest appearances on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, Bewitched, Happy Days, The Love Boat, and Fantasy Island.
"The Partridge Family" actor was best known for his role as manger of the family band in the beloved series from 1970 to 1974, but his resume includes his involvement in some of the most memorable and iconic shows of the era. Along with Shirley Jones, Madden played to role of father figure to the five children in the band, especially to a very young Danny Bonaduce. Bonaduce sent a touching Tweet today.
Dave Madden was a great guy & like family to me. He taught me to drive a car when I was 10. One of many great memories. I’ll truly miss him.
In a tumultuous time "The Partridge Family" promoted family-oriented rock and roll music to the television viewing audience. The cute kids and squeaky clean image added to its appeal during the 70s upheaval in music and culture.
Madden went on to appear in later years on shows such as "Boy Meets World" and "Sabrina the Teenage Witch". He also published his memoirs, "Reuben on Wry: The Memoirs of Dave Madden".
In addition to his wife Sandy Martin, Madden is also survived by his first wife, Nena Arnold, and two children, his son, Peter Michael and adopted daughter Selena.
