The Pan African Film Festival will be celebrating its 20th anniversary of showcasing films from around the world, including, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, the South Pacific, Canada, and the U.S. PAFF will screen 170 films, that showcase the diversity and uniqueness of filmmakers of African descent. This year the festival will run from Thursday, February 9, 2012 through Monday, February 20, 2012.
Kicking off the festival is the Los Angeles premiere of Think Like a Man, based on the New York Times best-selling book by radio host/comic Steve Harvey. The films stars include Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Meagan Good, Regina Hall, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Jenifer Lewis, Gary Owen, Gabrielle Union and Chris Brown. In between screenings PAFF will also host various programs, panels, and workshops, that will provide useful information to aspiring filmmakers, and entertainment for the average movie fan. In addition, PAFF will close the festival with the world premiere, Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day, written by, Bishop T. D. Jakes.
With the exception of the Opening Night Gala and world premiere, all PAFF screenings and panels will take place at the new Rave Cinemas Baldwin Hills 15. You may purchase tickets at the theatre box office or online, however, some events are also free.
