'The Other Woman' is No. 1 in movie digital sales/rentals; 'Noah' is No. 2

"The Other Woman" rose from No. 6 to No. 1 for movie digital sales and rentals from July 28 to Aug. 3, 2014, according to Rentrak. The list includes Internet Video on Demand (iVOD) and Electronic Sell-Through (EST), for both Standard-Definition and Digital HD movie purchases and rentals. (Rentrak's chart for movies on demand is a chart that ranks movies rented through traditional TV outlets.) A successful attorney Carly Whitten (played by Cameron Diaz) tries to get her life back on track after discovering that her lover Mark King (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is married. But when Carly accidentally meets Mark's wife Kate (played by Leslie Mann), Carly realizes that she and Kate have much in common, and they become close friends. Carly and Kate then discover that Mark has another unwitting mistress named Amber (played by Kate Upton), so all three women team up to plot mutual revenge on Mark. "The Other Woman" was disliked by most critics but the movie did well in cinemas.

"Noah" ascended from at No. 8 to No. 2. Russell Crowe stars as Noah in this film inspired by the epic biblical story of courage, sacrifice and hope. Directed by Darren Aronofsky. Also starring Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins, Douglas Booth and Logan Lerman. Critics gave "Noah" got mixed-to-positive reviews, and the movie was a solid hit.

"Divergent" fell from No. 1 to No. 3. "Divergent" is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. Tris Prior (played by Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy by a faction leader (played by Kate Winslet) to destroy all Divergents, Tris must learn to trust in the mysterious Four (played by Theo James) and together they must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late. Based on the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth. "Divergent" got mixed reviews from critics but was a blockbuster hit.

"Heaven Is For Real" dropped from No. 3 to No. 4. In the drama "Heaven Is for Real" (based on a true story), Greg Kinnear stars as Todd Burpo, a small-town pastor whose son Colton (played by Connor Corum) claims to have visited heaven during a near-death experience. Colton recounts the details of his amazing journey with childlike innocence and speaks matter-of-factly about things that happened before his birth — things he couldn't possibly know. Todd and his family are then challenged to examine the meaning from this remarkable event. "Heaven Is for Real" got mostly negative reviews from critics but was a box-office hit.

"Transcendence" fell from No. 2 to No. 5. Dr. Will Caster (played by Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed — to be a participant in his own transcendence. Also starring Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy and Kate Mara. "Transcendence" bombed with critics and in theaters.
