The Other Place's happy hour from 4-7 pm can leave patrons a little confused with drink prices. According to Miss Bartender (who declined to have her real name used) "it is the bar that is important," not her or the drink specials.
She was vague in explaining the discounts on the cocktails, however, well drinks are $.50 cheaper than regular hours. Also, discounts will vary on beers--depending if they are domestic, imported, size and bottle or draft.
In essence, this facility could be described as the mysterious happy hour. But, this reviewer calculated drinks (beer and well) to average about $3.75 each.
Nevertheless, this nook located on the busy corner of Euclid and Broadway is a contrast to the outside world with its quiet and mellow ambiance, low-lights, gray walls and black leather seated booths.
The Other Place is slow and a good place to relax, if looking to escape from crowds, lights and chaos. Plus the cocktails poured offered a good kick.
The juke box on the wall was silent and sports were playing on the two television sets located over the bar.
20 year patron known simply as Kathy enjoys The Other Place, because it is an old-time local bar and her and neighborhood friends get together.
Joshua Sadler of Riverside was drinking in a few rum and cokes as he killed time waiting for his date to get off work. He stopped by randomly, but said he would return if he was in town.
Miss Bartender stated that the bar is really popping at night with live entertainment and karaoke Tuesday and Thursday nights.
This bar definitely looks like it has the potential to be a great place to make "your own" hang out, depending on the time of day you visit.
