Can Seth MacFarlane separate himself from the stew in which he steadily simmers called Family Guy? The delicious and edgy program has many amazing ingredients which keep it on the front burner for many people and Seth is the voice behind many of the characters including Stewie Griffin, Peter Griffin, the anthropomorphic dog Brian, and more. Family Guy reaches millions of viewers through new prime time episodes shown each week and reruns shown in multitude, on various networks, almost every night. The talent of Macfarlane, as an actor, voice actor, animator, screenwriter, comedian, producer, director, and singer, is undeniable and The Academy Awards ceremony, airing this Sunday night, will display a smorgasbord of these talents.
What makes a great stew is the slow marriage of all it's components and the gradual transformation of each one into something better, in sum, than any of the single ingredients. This is the Family guy formula. But during the Oscars ceremony there will be no animated characters to hide behind, nor will there be any tangent streams of his thoughts to miraculously appear before our eyes like in the show. This year's Academy Awards Show, airing this Sunday can make Seth a household name. A successful Oscar Stewie recipe will see a complete mix of all the ingredients, the time to develope the flavors, and then be thoughtfully served to TV viewers on a silver platter.
The Drunken Clam style pubs across the country can tune in and enjoy the festivities while sharing mugs of beer and crude jokes. But for movie fans this year brings an amazing variety of great performances and some great movies. This is the superbowl for the motion picture industry and Seth can put another notch on his belt by separating himself from the stew and showcasing his very best character: himself. Enjoy.
