The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced its nominations for the 85th annual Academy Awards. The nominees for Best Picture are:

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" (4 Nominations)
"Django Unchained" (5 Nominations)
"Les Miserables"(8 Nominations)
"Life of Pi"(11 Nominations)
"Lincoln"(12 Nominations)
"Silver Linings Playbook"(8 Nominations)
"Zero Dark Thirty"(5 Nominations)
The nominees for Best Director are:
David O. Russell for "Silver Linings Playbook"
Ang Lee for "Life of Pi"
Steven Spielberg for "Lincoln"
Michael Haneke for "Amour"
Benh Zeitlin for "Beasts of the Southern Wild"
Snubs include Ben Affleck (who was not nominated for Director for Argo), Katherine Bigelow (also not nominated for her controversial "Zero Dark Thirty") and Skyfall, which many people thought might be James Bond's first nomination for Best Picture.

Daniel Day Lewis for "Lincoln" (winner, Phoenix Film Critics Society)
Denzel Washington for "Flight"
Hugh Jackman for "Les Miserables"
Bradley Cooper for "Silver Linings Playbook"
Joaquin Phoenix for "The Master"

Naomi Watts for "The Impossible"
